Boxelder Bug Control in Fort Wayne

Safer Boxelder Bug Treatment for Homes With Kids & Pets

Large groups of boxelder bugs on sun-facing exterior walls often signal that these seasonal pests are searching for sheltered places to spend the winter. They can enter through gaps around windows, doors, siding, screens, foundations, attic access points, and crawl-space openings.

We inspect the areas where the insects gather and the routes they may use to enter your home. Based on what we find, our service may combine source-focused treatment, exterior protection, and practical recommendations for limiting future access.

How to Identify Boxelder Bugs

Adult boxelder bugs (Boisea trivittata) are about one-half inch long, with dark brown or black bodies and distinctive red markings across the back. Nymphs are smaller, bright red, and wingless.

These insects may gather around boxelder, maple, ash, and certain fruit trees, as well as foundations, fences, and warm exterior surfaces. Their feeding generally doesn’t cause appreciable damage to host trees, but large groups around a home can become a persistent nuisance.

Finding them indoors often means they entered through exterior openings or sheltered inside walls, attics, or crawl spaces. Some may become active during warmer winter days or emerge as temperatures rise, even if they entered months earlier.

How We Approach Boxelder Bug Control

We use integrated pest management, combining careful inspection, targeted treatment, source-focused work, and prevention guidance. The right approach depends on where the insects are active, how they’re entering, and the conditions around your property.

Our service may include:

• Property inspection: We check congregation areas, exterior surfaces, foundation perimeters, windows, doors, vents, and accessible entry points.
• Tailored planning: We determine whether activity is concentrated outdoors or has moved into sheltered areas of the structure.
• Targeted treatment: We select treatment areas and application methods based on our findings, site conditions, and product-label directions.
• Prevention guidance: We identify practical maintenance and exclusion steps that may limit access to the home.

We offer traditional and organic treatment options. Their availability and suitability depend on the inspection and treatment area. Before service begins, we provide clear preparation and reentry instructions for the recommended approach.
